Okay, I seriously need a PDA Phone! This is one of those blog posts where my inner geek comes out. I'm always blogging, vlogging, taking pictures, listening to music, calling, texting, browsing myspace, facebook, and doing all sorts of stuff on my phone but I can't do more than three things at the same time! I need a smart phone. Meet the HTC P3600
This phone is a Quad Band GSM + Tri Band UMTS with HSDPA phone. We're talking about GSM 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz and UMTS 850/1900/2100 Mhz! You will never be dry of a 3G connection anywhere around the globe, nor will you have a bad connection to the network for calls, messaging, GPRS, or even EDGE because it has all the network standards out there. Okay maybe not all of the UMTS Standards because 1700 Mhz is also a european band but whatever you still get 2100 Mhz which is what most networks other than North American ones use anyway. Well, it's obviously a Windows Mobile 5 Phone but you can upgrade to WM6. What's so special about this phone? I know the AT&T 8525 already has the above features but the most important part of this phone is its Video Calling feature. There's a VGA camera in the front for people to see you whilst they speak to you and there's a 2.1 Megapixel Camera on the back for people to see what you want to show them. Of course, you can use those two camera lenses for taking pictures as well but we're more concerned about the Video Calling. AT&T/Cingular has Video Sharing but not Video Calling. Video Sharing is streaming video during phone calls but it's only a one-way video streaming service. The only carrier in America that has two-way video streaming during phone calls is the Rogers network in Canada. However, we sure do hope that AT&T will come to its senses by putting up Video Calling in the near future. I must add that AT&T has done very well with upgrading its systems, spending millions a day to build or purchase new towers, install UMTS with HSDPA networks in more areas, and even making those networks HSDPA category 6 which theoretically delivers 3.6 Mbps downstream. AT&T's fast-moving upgrades seem faster than European Mobile Telecommunications Companies, which had already offered 3GSM Services way before North American companies. Why did I mention AT&T anyway? Because AT&T is also releasing a new PDA Phone. Meet the AT&T 8925 aka AT&T Tilt aka HTC Kaiser aka HTC Kaiser.
Okay this phone has too many names. The AT&T 8925 is an upgrade to the 8525. This one finally has Windows Mobile 6 preinstalled so that's definitely a plus. But unlike its predecessor, this one has a 3 Megapixel Camera. The standard on phones right now, sadly, is still 1.3 Megapixels. I must say, this phone should be one of the fastest smartphones out there, sporting a 400 Mhz Qualcomm MSM7200, 256 MB of ROM and 128 MB of RAM. Those should be very fast just for a smartphone. Most importantly, this may be the first phone for AT&T that would have Video Calling! It has the same two cameras I was talking about on the HTC P3600 so it would probably have the same Video Calling. Well the back camera is a 3 Megapixel instead of 2.1 but same thing right? Shouldn't this phone also have Video Calling? Or not. AT&T hasn't exactly been releasing anything about this phone or any other upcoming technology upgrades so this phone is most likely to just have Video Sharing but we still must keep our hopes up. Well let's get to the network types. This phone is also a Quad Band GSM + Tri Band UMTS with HSDPA phone. Which means it also has GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, and HSDPA just like the P3600. But what the Kaiser does have that the P3600 doesn't have is HSUPA. Hopefully AT&T doesn't limit this phone's capabilities because this phone has a lot packing. So there you have it. Smart Phones I'm craving. I'm definitely all for the AT&T 8925/Tilt/HTC Kaiser/P4550 but I still wanted to show you the P3600 since the Kaiser won't be available until September 3 (*rumours) anyway. Hey, looks like if the rumours are correct, I should be able to buy this phone before the 8th of September as a birthday present for myself! (If I have the money, which I most likely won't...lol) UGGGHHH Why can't I just be a billionaire...lol |
